About
Pregnancy and the postpartum period are times of profound change. While they can be filled with joy and anticipation, they can also bring emotional challenges, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, trauma-related symptoms, bipolar disorder, and other mental health concerns. You do not have to navigate these experiences alone. As a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a focus on perinatal mental health, I provide compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric care for individuals who are planning a pregnancy, are pregnant, or are in the postpartum period. My goal is to help patients make informed decisions about their mental health while carefully considering the well-being of both the parent and the developing fetus or infant. Treatment is individualized and guided by the best available scientific evidence. Together, we thoughtfully weigh the benefits and risks of medication, psychotherapy, lifestyle interventions, and other treatment options. When medication is appropriate, recommendations are based on current research, with careful attention to maternal health, fetal development, breastfeeding goals, and long-term outcomes.
Care Philosophy
I believe that the best care is collaborative. I work closely with obstetricians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, primary care clinicians, therapists, pediatricians, and other members of your healthcare team—with your permission—to ensure that treatment is coordinated and aligned with your overall health and pregnancy care. Protecting the health of both parent and fetus is central to every treatment plan. Untreated mental health conditions can have meaningful consequences for both parent and baby, just as medications have potential risks and benefits. My role is to help you understand the available evidence, answer your questions, and develop a treatment plan that supports your health, your values, and your family's goals. Whether you are seeking guidance before conception, support during pregnancy, or care after delivery, I strive to provide a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where you can feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout your journey.
